India and South Korea are no longer distant countries. India and South Korea are progressively upgrading their bilateral relationship strategic partnerships post the signing of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in 2009.

Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) established Indo-Korea Science and Technology Center (IKST) in Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore mainly with the objectives of promoting technology and research partnerships between India and Korea. IKST was inaugurated by former President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on 27th January 2010. The time has come for Korea and India to cooperate for the world's development of Science & Technology and to collaborate in addressing global challenges by combining individual capabilities and strengths.
